Apple Black Friday 2021 deals: today’s best offers on Airpods Pro, iPhones and Series 6 Watch
As a trillion-dollar tech behemoth, Apple does not need to follow the crowd during Black Friday, when competitors rush to cut prices and capitalise on the yearly global sales event. Apple customers get pretty excited about buying iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, AirPods and Apple TV regardless of the cost.
This year, the buzz around the newly-released iPhone 13 Pro, Mini and Pro Max is not expected to die down for quite some time, so there is little reason for retailers to reduce prices on those.
Thankfully, Apple doesn’t forgo Black Friday and Cyber Monday completely. Third-party retailers like Carphone Warehouse, Amazon and Currys are already releasing Black Friday deals on Apple products, so it’s still a great time to buy the new iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch you’ve had your eye on. There are also discounts on two-year payment plans, even on the most sought-after products, from service providers like O2, Three and Sky.
The absolute latest, absolute best iPhone boasts an all-new Pro Camera system, a faster, brighter, more responsive screen, the world’s fastest smartphone chip (the A15 Bionic) and the longest ever iPhone battery life. The claim it can handle up to 28 hours of video playback before a recharge. There won’t be many deals around, but a three-figure saving on a two-year plan from 3 is a step in the right direction. The slightly smaller iPhone 13 Pro, which has a 6.1″ screen rather than 6.7″, is available with the same Black Friday discount.
Currys have included a handful of Apple products in their early Black Friday sales including the iPhone 12 Pro, which Apple is no longer producing (since the iPhone 13 has taken its place at the top of the range). Equipped with a 6.1” Super Retina XDR display and super-fast 5G connectivity, it also takes amazing photos thanks to its powerful triple camera system with an ultra wide lens.
Unlike the Pro, the base-model iPhone 12 , which has less RAM and no telephoto zoom, is still in production. O2 are offering a modest £7 per month discount on their 150GB 36-month plan on the iPhone 12, adding up to a saving of £252.
The iPhone 12 Mini is identical to the iPhone 12 except for a smaller 5.4″ screen and slighly shorter battery life. 3 have included it their Black Friday sale, with 50 percent off the first six months of the plan for a total saving of £135
Apple’s smallest product is one of its most sought-after. Designed to work perfectly with iPhones, their sound quality and noise cancellation is legendary while ‘transparency mode’, which allows important sounds such as traffic through but quietens everything else, is a big step forward.
Amazon’s early Black Friday deals are also well worth a look. They currently have £60 off the Apple Watch Series 6, which has both GPS and cellular connectivity (so you can take calls, text and get directions from your wrist without your phone). It also has incredibly in-depth health features, with a next-gen ECG and blood oxygen monitor, along with comprehensive fitness tracking. There’s an even bigger discount if you opt for the Apple Watch Series 6 in red, currently reduced to £399 with cellular and £279 with just GPS.
The original Apple AirPods are also on sale at Amazon for £99. They offer seamless connectivity with Apple devices, rich, great-quality sound, built-in Siri and an astonishing 24 hours of battery life (with the charging case).
The ultra-powerful iPad Pro is discounted at Currys with £50 off. This is a tablet so high-performing it could replace your laptop; it uses Apple’s iPad OS, has a powerful M1 chip and 256GB of storage. Added to that is an edge-to-edge Liquid Retina display that makes streaming video better than ever.
Fitted with the same A15 Bionic chip as the latest iPhones, with the same 12 megapixel cameras front and back (albeit only two, rather than the iPhone’s five), this has all the power of Apple’s top-end devices in an 8.3-inch package. Amazon’s £20 discount is on the wifi-only model.
Very also have some excellent Apple deals in their early Black Friday sale, including this 2020 Macbook Air. This model has had a huge jump up in performance and processing compared to its predecessor, thanks to the powerful AppleM1 chip now used in Macbook Air. It also has longer than ever batter life (up to 18 hours) which makes it the perfect partner for studying or working on the go.
The only thing you can’t do on an iPad is type, but attach it magnetically to this magic keyboard and you can – with a few clever new ways to work the operating system using Multi-Touch gestures and the trackpad cursor. John Lewis have this model, compatible with third- and fourth-generation 12.9″ iPad Pro (the current generation is the fifth), reduced to clear.
Another clever accessory for the iPad is the Apple Pencil, popular with artists – it lets you treat the screen as a notepad or canvas, letting you sketch and edit images with the precision and fluidity of, well, a pencil. Works with iPads but not iPhones.
